Fis World Junior Championships

In February the best junior athletes will compete
for the World titles on the slopes of Val di Fassa

Val di Fassa and the Dolomites are ready to host the most important junior event of alpine ski. From February 18 to 27, 2019 more than 650 under 21 athletes from 54 nations will participate to the 38th edition of the Junior World Ski Championships: a 10 days schedule with 11 world titles and 33 medals to be assigned in the two race venues of Pozza di Fassa and Passo San Pellegrino. Lots of champions have participated to the Junior World Ski Championships, among which Henrik Kristoffersen, six times gold medal winner in the under 21 event and Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin with their podiums. Further, the Olympic downhill winner Sofia Goggia have taken part to the junior event only two times, whilst Marco Odermatt have broken all records last winter in Davos winning five gold medals. 

The event has already broken records

The Junior World Ski Championships Val di Fassa 2019 has already broken records: this edition will welcome more than 56 nations and their under 21 athletes. Among the participants there are also Madagascar, Taiwan, Kenya, Malaysia, Brasil, Philippines, Puerto Rico and China.

The race venues 

The technical disciplines of Slalom, Giant Slalom and Team Event will take place on the Aloch slopes in Pozza di Fassa (Sèn Jan municipality). It is a taxing and very technical slope, which will be modified for the upcoming event. This slope (avg. inclination 29,2%, max inclination 51,8%) will host the men and ladies Slalom (starting at 1560 m finishing at 1360 m), the Giant Slalom (starting point 1665 m and finishing at 1340 m) and the Team Event (starting at 1425 m and finishing at 1360m). The speed disciplines of Downhill, SuperG and Alpine Combined will be organized on Passo San Pellegrino on La VolatA slope. A 2300 meters long track with starting point at 2510 and finish line at 1880 meters, with a drop of 630 meters, an average inclination of 28.4% and maximum inclination of 57%..
Other event venues are Canazei, where the official opening ceremony will take place, Moena with its Medal Plaza, Pera di Fassa with the ski room and Soraga, location of the Team Captains’ Meeting.
